To some, Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer, but this federal holiday observed on the last Monday in May was set aside to mourn U.S. military personnel who have died while serving in the United States armed forces.

We've rounded up commemorations and other events in South Florida for the holiday weekend. Temps should be in the mid-80s with scattered thunderstorms – just like summer! – so whether you're firing up the grill or hitting the beach, here's what you need to know.
